Mudaliar s Arcot Kitchen – An Authentic South Indian Fiesta

Today, our team went out for lunch, and we thought we’d try a new restaurant. As suggested by one of our colleagues, we headed out to this place called Mudaliar’s Arcot Kitchen, just off Santhome High Road.

The place is a humble setup, but offers a wide variety of authentic South Indian delicacies that will satisfy the typical spice-loving Indian taste palette.

If you’re a non-vegetarian, this place is paradise, as it serves a host of sea food, egg based, chicken and mutton based dishes, prepared with traditional spices and served with tangy gravies. They have also designed a set of combo meals that will ensure a quick, filling bite for those who are looking for a speedy meal.

The personalized service and the warm, humble ambience makes you feel very much at home!

Overall, Mudaliar’s Arcot Kitchen is one place that every foodie should add in his/her bucket list.

Tips:

1) Best enjoyed when in great hunger.

2) Best enjoyed when the sole aim of your outing is to devour good food, and not worry about the ambience, and all that jazz.

3) Do not miss the crab; it is worth going there solely to try their crab preparations!

Moment with A R Rahman

Last month, on a quiet Sunday afternoon, I was at the piano class in my music school – the Musee Musicals. Breaking the silence and taking me by sheer surprise, the legend of music A. R. Rahman, an alumni of the institute, walked into the class and asked me where the piano showroom was. He came to procure some instruments, and delighted me, walked him to the showroom.

Me and my son, who is also a student of the institute, had the great moment of seeing him and listening to him play piano with no other audience except the showroom owner. Rahman was simply absorbed in trying each new instrument.

We then introduced ourselves as London Trinity College Students and he enquired briefly about our piano and guitar classes. After a while, he signed off with his encouraging words to practice with perseverance.

What a moment, that will surely last with me for a lifetime!
