JIPM recognizes TAFE Sembiam’s commitment to excellence

The team from TAFE Sembiam recently received the ‘Award for Excellence in Consistent TPM Commitment – 2014’ at the JIPM award ceremony held in Kyoto, Japan. This brings us to a happy ending of the TPM journey for 2014 which began in August 2014 with the audits by JIPM.

Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is instituted by the Japan Institute for Plant Maintenance (JIPM) and TAFE Sembiam embarked on this journey in May 2007. For 2014, TAFE was one of the 22 companies selected worldwide for the excellence in consistent TPM commitment. We congratulate all members of TAFE Sembiam and all those associated with the TPM movement for this wonderful achievement.

TAFE wins 11 awards at the PRCI 9th Global Communication Conclave

India’s second largest tractor manufacturer and the Aon Hewitt – Best Employer in India (2013), Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE) group continued from where it left off last time by winning 11 awards at the PRCI – 9th Global Communication Conclave held in New Delhi. This annual conclave held by The Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) was hosted over two days which explored the theme of ‘Communicate to Connect’ and recognized various professionals, corporates and organizations for the outstanding work done by them in the categories like CSR initiatives, corporate events, corporate collateral and advertisements among other things for the year 2014.

TAFE group emerged as the second runner-up in the overall ‘Champion of Champions’ category with the third highest number of awards and rating. The awards were won in most of the categories TAFE participated in and across the standings including, one platinum, two crystals, one gold, two silver and five bronze awards. The awards were won across categories like Corporate Publications, Corporate Event, Corporate Advertisement and Corporate Brochure. The In-house Journal for TAFE Motors and Tractors Limited (TMTL) – Vayam and the Logo created by TAFE Corporate Communications Department (CCD) for the AgriStar brand of TAFE’s Applications Business Unit (ABU) received recognition. Another achievement for the TAFE CCD and ABU partnership was the ‘Implementing Ideas’ tagline featuring as one of the winners in the Attractive Tagline of the Year category. Additionally, TAFE’s regional Corporate Ad, Online newsletter TAFE Café and collaterals like MF Table Calendar and TMTL Diary for 2015 were recognized too.

PRCI is a pan-India organization of PR, communications, advertising and media professionals, academicians, forums, institutions, and corporates, that provides a forum where creative minds often come together, upholding the challenges and values of professionalism in PR and encourages high ethical standards of work. The 9th Global Communications Conclave reflected this, as panel discussions on pertinent topics like “The Ethical Connect – Are we losing it?”, “CSR Connect” – which included Ms. Sunitha Subramaniyan – Sr. Deputy General Manager, TAFE CCD as one of the panelists, “Financial Inclusion” and “The Youth Connect – Are We Ready to meet Aspirations/Dreams?” were conducted through the two days of the conclave which were followed by insightful discussions among participants.

A support extended beyond duty

Mr. Karunanithi M, Chief Security Advisor (CSA) at Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE) is a retired veteran of 37 years from the Tamil Nadu Police Force. Apart from rendering his duties as the CSA at TAFE, he is integral to raising awareness among employees about important security measures in all walks of life.

In his free time Mr. Karunanithi actively strives to give something back to the society which is a habit having served in the force for about four decades.

Recently, Mr. Karunanithi participated in a panel discussion on Road Safety organized by Rotaract at Chettinadu Vidhyalaya Auditorium where about 900 students from various colleges across Chennai were in attendance. He was also part of a training program for the Tamil Nadu Police making a presentation on Investigation Skills to Trainers at the Police Training College, Chennai.

TAFE Madurai wins Six Sigma award for Quality Improvement

TAFE’s Six Sigma Project Team from Madurai Plant has won the 3rd prize in the Six Sigma Competition conducted by Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Bangalore. The team consisting of members from TAFE Madurai, Jagan Kumar (Quality), Mahendra Ananth (Paint shop), Neetimohan (PPED), Pradeep Krishnan (TQM) and Shankar (PPED), won the accolade in the Quality Improvement which part of the D-M-A-I-C Manufacturing category. A total of 24 teams participated in the competition of which 14 teams competed in the D-M-A-I-C Manufacturing category.

We congratulate the members of the TAFE Madurai Six Sigma Project for their hard work and for winning this wonderful award.

TAFE annual Farmers’ Day initiative enters its 10th year

Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE) held its annual Farmers’ Day event at Patna, Bihar, for the 10th year in succession. This year saw a turnout of about 400 farmers. TAFE Farmers’ Day provides a platform for farmers to interact with renowned agricultural scientists from leading universities and agri-research institutes. They share with the farmers the best practices in cultivation, irrigation, soil preparation, seed technologies relating to the crops of the region along with modern farm mechanization practices. Scientists from TAFE’s JFarm – an adaptive agriculture research center, also play a significant role in organizing and conducting the Farmers’ Day event.

The speakers included some of the of leading scientists and agricultural experts from Bihar, namely, Dr. N. K. Singh, Chief Scientist-Rice, Dr. Janardan Prasad, Chief Scientist – Soil Science, Dr. Mritunjay Kumar, Chief Scientist – Maize and Dr. Devendra Singh, Chief Scientist – Pulses from the Rajendra Agricultural University, Pusa, Dr. Vishal Nath, Director, National Research Centre for Litchi (ICAR), Muzaffarpur and Dr. J. J. Gupta, Principal Scientist – Animal Nutrition, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) – Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna. The speakers covered topics that dealt with production technology of direct sown rice and summer pulses, best practices for litchi production, advances in production technology of high quality maize and modern techniques in fertilizer application.

At the event, TAFE also distributed free Litchi saplings to all the farmers attending the Farmers’ Day event. These much-sought-after saplings are developed at ICAR unit-NRCL and were given to farmers for planting in their fields and residences. Some field events were also conducted that tested the technical knowhow and mechanization skills of the farmers. TAFE also honored six progressive farmers from the state of Bihar for excellence in farming. Mr. Dip Narayan Singh from Vaishali, Mr. Jagannath Singh from Nalanda, Mr. Sohan Singh from Muzaffarpur, Mr. Kishor Singh from Ara, Mr. Sant Kumar Sinha from Jehanabad and Mr. Gupteshwer Singh from Patna were recognized for their outstanding contribution to agriculture. These farmers shared with the gathering, their knowledge and put forth ideas that lead to increase in yield and productivity.

Over the past decade TAFE Farmers’ Day has been held at Madurai, Tanjore, Alwarkuruchi and Kovilpatti in Tamil Nadu, Hosur and Doddaballapur in Karnataka, Rudrapur in Uttarakhand, Ongole in Andhra Pradhesh and Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

TAFE home to one of the most talented marketing professionals

Exemplifying excellence, Mr. Vikas Gupta, General Manager – Marketing, TMTL Engines Division, has been recognized by CMO Asia among the “25 Most Talented Rural Marketing Professionals of India” last weekend at a ceremony held at Mumbai.

The Rural Marketing Forum offers a perfect platform for sharing and assimilation of experiences. The 25 Most Talented Rural Marketing Professionals of India listing is a result of an intensely researched process undertaken by a specialized research cell consisting of post graduates in History and Management with a combined research experience of over 100 years post their studies. The cell compiles a list of individuals doing extraordinary work and track their achievements. The shortlist is then reviewed by a jury comprising of senior professionals from across the nation.

Competencies like strategic perspective and building collaborative relationships beyond distribution, fulfilling corporate commitment to promote inclusive growth / social equity, cultural congruence and adaptability are considered for this recognition.

TAFE is the EEPC Star Performer for the 19th Consecutive Year

Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE), Chennai has been awarded the Star Performer award in the Large Enterprise category for the product group “Agricultural Tractors” in recognition of its outstanding contribution to engineering exports during the year 2012-13 by Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC), Southern Region. The award ceremony was held on January 02, 2015 at Chennai and Mr. R. Sudarsan, Senior Associate VP – Exports receives the award on behalf of TAFE from Dr. C. Rangarajan, Former Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council.

The awards were decided on the basis of FOB value of export of Engineering Goods in Agricultural Tractors. It is a phenomenal achievement for TAFE to have won this prestigious award 19 years in a row. TAFE’s success can be attributed to many factors like the extensive range of products and features TAFE offers to its customers and the synergy between TAFE & AGCO teams to take the brand forward.

EEPC was setup by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, in the year 1955. EEPC India has been serving over 12,000 members ranging from large corporate houses, star trading houses, small & medium scale units, and many more.
