TAFE Corporate Office Celebrates Holi

The TAFE Head Office has witnessed numerous celebrations in the past, but this year’s Holi celebration in particular was definitely the most happening one, not just because of the huge participation, but the exciting games, fun and the special dance floor that followed. Though the celebrations started off on a slow note with some biscuit-eating competitions, the HR team took it to another level with lot more interesting games and fun-filled activities ensuring participation of almost everyone present.

The “colouring” phase of the day-long celebration started by noon, and the saying “bura na mano, Holi hai” was floating around everywhere. Even trainees gathered the courage to attack their bosses with coloured powders!

A few days ago, TAFE Head Office employee Mr. Narpat Singh shared with us proudly, an article on India Today featuring his daughter, Rupa, who is a successful horse jockey in Chennai. She is reportedly the only woman horse jockey around, and has over 2000 races and 420 wins to her credit, which is a great feat for a 30 year old.

Rupa was featured in the March issue of India Today’s ‘Simply Chennai’ section which was a special Women’s Day edition named ‘The Power Within’, and what more? – She recently received the ‘Champion Jockey’ trophy in the 2012-13 Madras Races.

Cheers to Rupa for this great honour!

Lost Found

LOST

The day I saw you,

The day I spoke with you,

Lost my speech,

Lost my sense,

Found my love.

Then you said;

It’s over (Love),

I got lost again.

In the sea of vagueness,

I sailed for ages,

But I could not find the shore,

I wondered why?

I realized then

The love anchor was not lifted……..

Time is the doctor

Which healed me better.

FOUND

Then….

I found I have patience,

I found I have perseverance,

I found I have continuousness,

Finally I lost my weakness

And found my strengths.

Moral of the Story

Here are two stories that make us realize something very valuable, which can be applied to anything that we do.

Wrong Prediction

Two friends were sitting by a river which was flowing in great speed. They spotted a bundle of wool in the water moving with the current. One of them said that he would reach out to the bundle and take it so they both can share it. But the other man disagreed saying that it would be risky to jumpy into that speedy water current.

The first man, out of greed, jumped in and tried to pull out the bundle out of the water. Due to the current, he found himself in a tough spot. The other man suspected that his friend will not be able to succeed in, and asked him to leave the bundle and swim back to the river bank.

The foolish man in the water then replied,”I left it already but it is not leaving me because it is not a bundle of wool, IT’S A BEAR!!!!”

Sometimes, we realize that our prediction is wrong only at the point of no return.
Brilliant Masters and Their Intelligent Helper Boys

Two rich men were chatting together and the topic shifted to their helper boys

The first guy said,” My boy is a fool, he just doesn’t comprehend anything“.

Hearing this, the other man said, “Fool’ is not a strong enough word to describe my boy.”

Then they decided to illustrate their helper boys’ idiocy with an example. The first man called his helper, gave him, Rs.10/- and told him to buy a brand new car for him and come back immediately. The servant calmly nodded and received the money and headed out.

The second man called his boy and asked him to go to his house and verify whether he is there in his house or not and come back immediately.

Both the helper boys met outside and talked among themselves.

The first helper boy told the other,”See! How foolish my master is. All shops will be closed today, as it is a Sunday. How will i buy the car?”

The second helper boy then said,” That’s nothing. See how stupid my master is. He has his mobile phone with him; why can’t he just make a call to his residence and check if he’s there?”

Your decision may be right, but your reason could be wrong.

A Matter of National Pride

It was my honour as well as privilege to be the Chief Guest for my locality’s Republic Day celebrations in Subrahmanya Nagar, Kodambakkam for unfurling our dear National Flag and to distribute prizes.
It was quite an elaborate affair as more than 300 local residents actively participated in this event. More than 50 prizes were given to children and elders for various competitive events conducted over a period of three weeks. Senior citizens of more than 90 years were felicitated – it was quite touching!
