A Matter of National Pride

It was my honour as well as privilege to be the Chief Guest for my locality’s Republic Day celebrations in Subrahmanya Nagar, Kodambakkam for unfurling our dear National Flag and to distribute prizes.
It was quite an elaborate affair as more than 300 local residents actively participated in this event. More than 50 prizes were given to children and elders for various competitive events conducted over a period of three weeks. Senior citizens of more than 90 years were felicitated – it was quite touching!

Melange – R D

Melange at R&D has become a regular feature. Success story of this event continues to the fourth year with participation from all departments of R&D Division, along with a few invited dignitaries from other Divisions. The get together function was organised by HR-R&D for R&Dians at the Green Park Hotel, Vadapalani, on 10 Jan 2013.

One of the unique features of this edition of Melange was that there were as many as seven carnival stalls by the Protoshop team. During the event, various talents were displayed by R&Dians. One of the highlights of the evening was an exclusive Rewards and Recognition session.

The compering was done by Ms Sumathi with least support from leading event managers, MANTRA. As an icing on cake we had Robo Shankar and his team of Vijay TV and Mr Naveen from Radio Mirchi for entertaining the crowd. The gathering dispersed only after a sumptuous dinner. The event was a memorable one and we are sure the people in R&D have got charged up!

However, the highlight of the event was the Pongal making competition.

Night Trek to Kabbaladurga

As an implusive decision, we planned to be part of a trek organised by the Bangalore Mounteneering Club. So, we headed off on a night trek to Kaballadurga which is situated some 70 kms from Bangalore on Kanakapura road.

Overall, the trek was moderately difficult. We spent the the whole night under the barren sky cuddled in sleeping bags, and thankfully, Bangalore’s climate was kind to us, else we would have frozen as we had not taken enough warm clothing due to our impulsive decision :).

We reached the base at the stroke of midnight. From there, it took us two hrs to reach the top. where we camped for the night. The next morning, after sunrise, we started descending the hill.

It was definitely a nice short and sweet experience!
